Vincent Castellucci, Ph.D.


Vincent Castellucci, Ph.D.Vincent Castellucci is full professor in the Department of Physiology and Assistant Vice-Dean of Research and Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. He received a PhD in Neurobiology from Washington University and completed a postdoctoral training period in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Kandel in the Department of Physiology at the New York University School of Medicine. His research concentrates on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of memory and he works to understand the diversity of the synaptic interactions underlying the forms of learning in aplysia, a marine mollusk used as a study model. Vincent Castellucci was an assistant professor at New York University from 1971 to 1974 before taking the position of professor at Columbia University in 1975. From 1993 to 2001, he was Director of the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and Acting Director of the Department of Pathology and Cellular Biology. Vincent Castellucci has been a member of the Groupe de Recherche sur le Système Nerveux Central (GRSNC) since 1984.
