Appointment of Dr. Ronald G. Lafrenière as Executive Director of CENUM

It is with pleasure that Dr. Guy A. Rouleau today announced the appointment of Dr. Ronald G. Lafrenière as Executive Director of the Centre of Excellence in Neuromics of Université de Montréal (CENUM)..

Dr. Lafrenière holds a Ph.D. in biology from McGill University and has been postdoctoral fellow and researcher at BioChem Pharma. In January 2001, he joined the team of Xenon Genetics Research Inc. and from 2003 to 2008 he was Chief Executive Officer and Director of Research of Emerillon Therapeutics, a Montreal-based company with a dozen employees and a yearly budget of over $2 million.

"Ron has several years of experience in the management of multidisciplinary teams, both at scientific and administrative levels. I am confident that his experience will be a great asset for CENUM" said Dr. Rouleau. .

Dr. Lafrenière will be responsible for establishing multidisciplinary research teams at the CENUM, for establishing collaborations between members of the Centre and collaborators in Quebec, Canada and abroad, and for coordinating the financing of large research projects.
