Centre of Excellence in Neuromics of Université de Montréal

The neuron : at the centre of CENUM’s activities. The Centre of Excellence in Neuromics of Université de Montréal (CENUM) was created in 2007 by the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal. The CENUM is a network of more than fifty physicians and researchers from different institutions affiliated with the Université de Montréal, working to better understand diseases that affect the brain and the nervous system. The Université de Montréal appointed Dr. Guy A. Rouleau to head this new academic research centre.

What is neuromics?

Neuromics is a global approach to research on the brain and the nervous system. It is based on the evaluation of genomic data (genes and genomes) and proteomic data (proteins and their expression) as well as on the use of animal models to study the development and functions of the neuron, the cell at the centre of nervous system activities. Neuromics is multidisciplinary; it combines neurology, psychiatry, molecular biology and clinical pharmacology in an effort to deepen our understanding of the nervous system and the diseases that affect it.
